1/11/18 – See Your Doctor
Effective immediately, I’m stepping down from all on-air duties.
No, there’s no scandal.
I’m stepping down because I have a brain tumor.
By the time you watch this, I’ll have had surgery, radiation and will have started the recovery process.
I have no idea how long recovery will take.
In the meantime, I ask you to continue sending your emails, posting to Facebook, and tweeting your comments. I’d like to know what issues you’re thinking about while I’m away.
Now, a bit of advice.
If you have an unusual symptom then I urge you to get checked immediately.
I didn’t do that.
When I was having problems with my vision I told myself I was tired, distracted, wasn’t paying attention. Little did I know I was slowly going blind.
I’m not prone to headaches. So, when I started getting them – sometimes lasting for days – I rationalized it was summer allergies. The headaches would soon stop.
They did not.
Eventually, I got checked. And learned I had a tumor the size of a lemon.
Now, I’m taking all of the necessary medical steps to get better.
I’ve done my part. Now, you do yours.
If you know in your gut that something isn’t right with your health then see your doctor.
Your life may depend on it.
I’m Mark Hyman.
Thanks for listening.
